I grew up in south Louisiana and love figs, but here in middle TN, Zone 6b, it is much harder to get a reliable crop of delicious figs. I love the flavor of a ripe LSU Purple, and like Celeste as well, but I wonder if there are other recommended varieties. I have not had good luck with LSU gold, and my Kadota fig sets fruit but we always have a freeze before they ripen. Any suggestions?

I'd look at earlier varieties. I always document what season certain varieties are supposed to fruit in, early season, mid season, late season, etc.

Blanche, LSU Champagne, Scott's Black, VDB/LMF all work well in Chattanooga area!
