Wild Figs (Seedlings) vs Known Varieties

I know some of us have a wild streak, an urge towards the unknown, towards pushing frontiers. I know others like the reliability and safety of known cultivars. I understand (loosely) that there is good reason for both. I think this is the beginning of an interesting conversation and I would love to hear what the community thinks about this topic. I’m for The Fig Renaissance. I will be part of the rebirth of figging. As long as potential treasures exist out there, I’ll be looking for new and delicious figs. Tried and true is a good place to start, but not a good place to finish.
