Description
From Danny
From the notes of Montserrat Pons and our observations: Coll de Dama Rimada (MP) produces one (1) crop of high quality delicious figs. No Breba (first crop). Main crop produces medium to large sized, yellow colored, pyriform figs with striking longitudinal green stripes. Thin skin with a heavy firmness. Not easily damaged and holds up well after picking. Transports well. As the fig ripens and expands the skin will develop short, fine longitudinal cracking, exposing the white pith below. Maroon red colored pulp with a solid interior. Pulp is jammy with a pleasing texture and small seed crunch. Very flavorful and sweet. Small sized eye. Insect resistant, resistance to souring, high rain tolerance. Not as vigorous as others with average amount of growth every season. Rounded canopy. Suited variety for potted culture. Not prone to splitting. No pollination required.
Our Coll de Dama Rimada is first generation sourced directly from Montserrat Pons. According to Señor Pons, Coll de Dama Rimada was discovered in an olive orchard at a high altitude on the Balearic island of Mallorca, Spain. Known to be late ripening and prolific. Named for the typical Coll de Dama (Fr: Col de dame), 'lady's neck', pyriform shape and the longitudinal stripes of the rimada varieties. Very beautiful fig and wonderful addition to any collection.
