Description
The information comes from Montserrat Pons' book, "Les Figures a les illes Balears". The Cosme Manyo variety originates from Llucmajor, the town of Montserrat itself.
It was introduced to the crop by a certain Cosme Manyo, I don't know if Montserrat has any clue of this man.
Estelrich names and describes this fig tree on October 16, 1908. (Image attached on description)
I can say that it is a fig of exceptional quality and taste.
. The figs are large and the tree vigorous.
Brian Melton:
The next couple years most sought after fig could be “Cosme Manyo”. The fig comes from Mallorca via Montserrat Pons Boscana . What makes it so special? Well, it is mid season here, medium to large size and prolific. The flavor is a bit complex as it is sweet with a rich berry flavor. The pulp is sticky and thick. The tree is not dainty like many French figs. It is a robust grower. What a fantastic variety!
