Description
Brian Melton Aug. 17, 2021:
Discovered a interesting new fig today. This fig is growing next to a pump along the concrete. It is behind a gas station by a fence. It looks like it gets chopped down every few years because the trunk is all suckers . The tree is very healthy as it gets some water from a nearby sprinkler. The figs are small but loaded at every node. The flavor is fantastic with a sweet sugary berry flavor (I cannot taste candy flavors or tropical fruits my palate isn’t good). They are just now ripening which would probably be considered mid season here. I named it “Sunrise” as the colors of orange and yellow remind me of the beautiful morning sunrise. This is the first unique variety that I have found in quite some time.
