Description
By Tony 11-2-2016:
They usually produce loads of medium size purple skinned figs that show surface cracking when fully ripe (except this year when a severe late frost nipped new growth; the plants sprang back with new growth again but produced no figs; that said, the plants are very cold Hardy ), have a light, sweet berry flavor and although likely having it, they haven't exhibited a lick of FMV that I can recall in the 25 years that I have had the plants in ground.
From Brenda (Bren55) 2-6-2021:
CPBI stands for Canton Pett Bronx Italian and Unknown that a member here on Ourfigs @Fygmalion gave cuttings for postage back in 2016 and 2017. I was a fortunate receipant of some of those cuttings back in 2016. The fig is a Mt. Etna variety that is a very easy rooter, good grower and very prolific, I started several trees mid season last yr from left over cuttings to use this yr as Grafting material. I list it this way CPBI since that was what was on the bag my cuttings were in originally & it's too long to put on cuttings, when I talk about it I usually add the Purple Unkown to the name on the end, Canton Pett Bronx Italian Purple Unknown .......
