The Kafe Te Jiate fig is a rare and highly sought-after variety known for its striped skin, elongated shape, and exceptional flavor. Originating from the Mediterranean region, particularly Albania, this fig has gained recognition among collectors and growers for its rich, honeyed sweetness and complex depth of flavor. Many fig enthusiasts believe that Kafe Te Jiate is the same variety as Flanders, as both share strikingly similar physical traits, growth habits, and fruit quality. However, some growers maintain that subtle differences exist, making it an ongoing topic of discussion in the fig community.

Kafe Te Jiate produces medium to large, teardrop-shaped figs with an extended neck, which helps protect the fruit from splitting and spoilage. Its thin yet firm skin features a golden-yellow base overlaid with bold violet to purple stripes, creating an eye-catching, almost artistic appearance. As the fruit ripens, the contrast between the stripes intensifies, giving it a distinct look that makes it easy to recognize.

The interior is a rich amber-golden color, often with subtle pinkish undertones. The pulp is smooth, luscious, and packed with natural sugars. The flavor is deeply sweet with caramel, fig nectar, and light berry notes, balanced by a mild acidity that enhances its complexity. The seeds are minimal, offering little to no crunch, which contributes to its smooth, creamy texture.

This fig is known for being highly productive, bearing both a Breba crop in early summer (late June to early July) and a Main crop in late summer (August to September). The Breba figs tend to be larger and slightly less intense in flavor, while the Main crop is more concentrated in sweetness and complexity.
