Description
Dan Maloon on 8-17-22:
This is Baga unk. I think this was the wild one as my brother-in-law couldn't ever get it to produce. I like it better than a ripe panache.
Dan Maloon on 8-23-22:
It has an upright growth habit and a distinct leaf shape. It handles the sun better than the other two (Santa Barbara and Terceira). It has made no breba yet. Has a small open eye that fills with honey to seal it. Medium skin thickness with a good chew. Sweet rich berry flavor with a few seeds popping to contrast the flesh. I like it more than a Cali ripened panache. It's smooth not thick. It's becoming more refined as the year has gone by with the internal parts melting into itself. Fine textured. Really I want to eat more just to make sure that description is right. For the first year this is an excellent fig too. I'm not cutting this back this year so I can see if it does produce a breba. I don't think this likes to get cut back in general anyway. I haven't given this to anyone.
