It split on me at first but things got better. This variety has a dark purple on the body fading to a light purple-ish hue towards the neck. Small to medium sized fig with an amber flesh. A vigorous and very productive variety.Unlike VdB, it has a sugar flavor but more like a candy sugar while VdB has a sugar, berry taste to it. LSU purple is very tasty and worth adding to the collection. Only problem is, ants and other critters love it just as much.

Delicious if totally ripe, bland otherwise. Subtle, not overpowering. Moderately sweet, suggesting maple.Similar Varieties
